Piano Removals
Piano Removals Blackheath – Man and Van Blackheath
Moving a piano is not the same as moving ordinary furniture. At Man and Van Blackheath, we provide a dedicated piano removals service in Blackheath and surrounding areas, handled by experienced movers who understand the weight, balance and value of these instruments. Whether it is an upright in a terraced house or a baby grand in a top-floor flat, we plan every detail to protect both your piano and your property.
Specialist Piano Removals in Blackheath
Our piano removals service is built around safety, precision and reliability. We use the correct equipment, specialist techniques and secure vehicles to move pianos of all sizes. Every move is carefully assessed in advance so we arrive with the right team, the right tools and a clear route planned.
As a local Blackheath removals company, we know the area’s streets, parking restrictions and building layouts. That local knowledge allows us to manage challenging access, narrow staircases and tight hallways without unnecessary risk or delay.
Who Our Piano Removal Service Is For
Our Blackheath piano removals are suitable for:
- Homeowners moving house or relocating a piano within the home.
- Renters in flats and houses who need careful moves with minimal disruption and no damage to walls or floors.
- Landlords clearing or installing pianos in rental properties between tenancies.
- Businesses such as schools, music studios, theatres, hotels and event venues.
- Students at music colleges or universities moving term-time or storing instruments.
Whether you have a single upright or multiple instruments across sites, we tailor the service to your situation and timings.
What We Can and Cannot Move
Items Included in Our Piano Removals
Our team can safely move:
- Upright pianos (including overstrung and tall uprights).
- Baby grand and grand pianos (with legs and pedals removed and protected as required).
- Digital pianos and keyboards, including stands and benches.
- Piano stools and benches, music stands and associated accessories.
- Pianos within the same property (room-to-room or floor-to-floor moves).
Items Excluded or By Prior Agreement
For safety and insurance reasons, the following are either excluded or require prior discussion:
- Pianos needing crane access through windows or balconies (we can often recommend a specialist partner).
- Pianos that are structurally unsound, water damaged or unsafe to move.
- Moves involving major building works or unsafe access routes.
- Long-distance or overseas moves without prior planning and schedule agreement.
If you are unsure whether your piano or situation is suitable, we are happy to advise before booking.
Our Step-by-Step Piano Removals Process
1. Enquiry & Quote
You contact us with basic details: piano type, current and destination addresses, access information and preferred dates. We will ask a few focused questions and may request photos. Based on this, we provide a clear, no-obligation quote explaining what is included, how many movers are needed and any specific conditions.
2. Survey (Virtual or Onsite)
For many Blackheath piano removals, a virtual survey using photos or video is sufficient. For more complex moves (tight staircases, basement access, or grand pianos), we may carry out an onsite visit. This allows us to check measurements, access routes, parking options and any risks in advance, reducing surprises on the day.
3. Packing & Preparation
On moving day, our trained team arrives with protective materials, tools and piano-specific moving equipment. We will:
- Protect floors, bannisters and tight corners where required.
- Wrap the piano in padded blankets and secure it with straps.
- Remove legs, lids or pedals on grands where necessary, carefully labelling and protecting each component.
- Secure keyboards, lids and any moving parts to avoid damage.
4. Loading & Transport
Your piano is carefully lifted using appropriate numbers of movers and professional equipment such as piano skates, trolleys and ramps. Once in the vehicle, it is positioned to minimise movement and strapped securely. Our vehicles are equipped with load-lock systems and clean, dry load spaces to keep your piano safe throughout the journey.
5. Unloading & Placement
At the destination, we reverse the process with the same attention to detail. We place the piano exactly where you want it, subject to safe access. Protective wrappings are removed, components reassembled and we carry out a quick final check with you before we leave. If required, we can move the piano slightly to help you find the best position for acoustics and space.
Transparent Piano Removal Pricing
We believe in clear, upfront pricing. Our piano removals in Blackheath are usually priced based on:
- Type and size of piano (upright vs baby grand/grand).
- Access complexity at both properties (stairs, narrow hallways, lifts, distance from parking).
- Distance between addresses.
- Number of movers and any additional equipment required.
- Timing (standard daytime vs evening, weekend or urgent moves).
Your quote will set out the cost structure and any potential additional charges (for example, waiting time due to access issues outside our control). There are no hidden extras: you will know exactly what you are paying for before you confirm the booking.
Why Use Professional Piano Movers Instead of DIY?
Pianos are heavy, awkward and delicate inside. Attempting a move with friends and a basic van can lead to serious injury, damage to the piano, and damage to walls, floors and staircases.
By choosing a professional service like Man and Van Blackheath, you benefit from:
- Experienced teams who understand correct lifting and handling techniques.
- Specialist equipment designed for heavy and high-value items.
- Fully insured transport, giving financial protection.
- Efficient planning that reduces disruption and downtime.
- Lower overall risk than hiring a casual man-and-van or attempting it yourself.
Insurance and Professional Standards
Your piano is both valuable and often emotionally important. We take that responsibility seriously.
- Goods in transit insurance – covers your piano while it is in our vehicle, subject to policy terms and declared value.
- Public liability cover – protection in case of accidental damage to third-party property during the move.
- Trained moving teams – our staff receive ongoing training in safe handling, manual lifting, and protecting high-value items.
Full details of cover and limits are available on request; we are always transparent about what is and is not insured so you can make an informed decision.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
Our approach balances careful handling with responsible working practices. We use durable, reusable blankets and straps rather than excessive single-use packaging wherever possible. Vehicles are maintained efficiently to minimise emissions, and we plan routes carefully around Blackheath and London to reduce unnecessary mileage.
Inside your property, we take care to protect floors, walls and doorways, and we work quietly and respectfully, particularly in shared buildings where neighbours may be affected.
Real-World Piano Removal Use Cases
Moving House in Blackheath
When you are moving home, your piano is often one of the final items to go and the first to be set up at the new address. We coordinate with your wider house removal so the piano is handled at the right time, without getting in the way of general furniture and boxes.
Office, School and Venue Relocations
We regularly help schools, music studios, churches, theatres and hotels move or reposition pianos. This may involve early mornings, evenings or weekend work to avoid disrupting lessons, services or events. Our flexible scheduling helps keep your operations running smoothly.
Urgent or Short-Notice Piano Moves
Sometimes a piano needs to be moved quickly – for a property handover, a last-minute venue change or an unexpected issue at the current location. Subject to availability, we can offer same-day or next-day piano removals across Blackheath and nearby areas, always keeping safety as the priority.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a piano removal in Blackheath cost?
The cost depends mainly on the type of piano, access at each property and the distance between addresses. Uprights with straightforward, ground-floor access are at the lower end of the price range, while baby grands or moves involving multiple flights of stairs cost more due to extra labour and equipment. We provide a clear, itemised quote after a short assessment or survey, so you know exactly what is included before you book. There are no hidden fees; any potential additional costs are explained upfront.
Can you offer same-day or urgent piano removals?
Yes, where our schedule allows, we can provide same-day or short-notice piano removals in Blackheath and nearby areas. Availability depends on having the right team and equipment free, as piano moves cannot be rushed or squeezed in unsafely. If you need an urgent move, call us as early as possible with key details so we can check our diary and confirm whether we can help. Even for urgent jobs, we will not compromise on safe handling or proper protection for your piano.
Is my piano insured during the move?
Yes. Your piano is covered by our goods in transit insurance while it is in our vehicle, and our public liability cover protects against accidental damage to third-party property. Insurance is subject to policy terms, declared values and reasonable care conditions, which we are happy to explain in plain language before you book. If your piano has particularly high value, we may recommend you notify your own insurer as well. Transparency is important: we will always be clear about what is and is not covered.
What is included in your piano removals service?
Our standard service includes the trained team, specialist equipment, vehicle, protective blankets, basic floor and corner protection where required, safe loading and unloading, and placement of the piano in your chosen room. For grand pianos, it also includes careful removal and reattachment of legs and pedals where necessary. We do not tune the piano, as this is best carried out by a professional tuner after the instrument has settled. Any additional services, such as storage or multiple delivery points, will be clearly listed in your quote.
How is a professional piano removal different from a standard man-and-van?
A casual man-and-van service often lacks the training, equipment and insurance needed for safe piano handling. Our professional piano removals use specialist kit, extra manpower where needed and specific techniques to manage the weight and balance of the instrument. We pre-plan access routes, protect your property and provide appropriate insurance. This significantly reduces the risk of injury, damage or costly mistakes. While the initial price may be higher than a general man-and-van, it usually represents far better value when you consider the potential risks.
How far in advance should I book a piano removal?
For the best choice of dates and times, we recommend booking at least one to two weeks in advance, especially during busy periods such as month-end and weekends. This gives us time to carry out any necessary survey and plan the move properly. However, we understand that plans can change, so we will always do our best to accommodate shorter notice where possible. If you have a fixed completion date or event, contact us as soon as you know so we can reserve a suitable slot.

Our Step-by-Step Man with Van Process
1. Enquiry & Quote
You contact us with your addresses, access details, and a list or photos of what needs moving. We provide a clear, no-obligation quote, usually based on time and distance, with any extra services priced upfront.
2. Survey (Virtual or Onsite)
For most man with van jobs, a virtual survey (photos or video call) is enough. For larger or more complex moves, we can visit in person. This helps us choose the right van, the right number of movers, and plan parking and access safely.
3. Packing & Preparation
You can pack your own items, or we can supply materials and offer a packing service if requested. On the day, we protect furniture with blankets, wraps and straps, and carefully plan the loading order so everything travels securely.
4. Loading & Transport
Our trained movers handle the lifting, carrying and loading. We secure everything inside the van with straps and padding to prevent movement. Your goods are covered by goods in transit insurance while we transport them to the new address or storage.
5. Unloading & Placement
At your destination, we unload efficiently and place items in the rooms you specify. We can reassemble simple furniture (if agreed in advance) and will not leave until you are happy that everything is in the right place.
Transparent Pricing – How We Charge
We keep costs clear and simple. Most man with van jobs in Blackheath are priced either:
- By the hour (with a minimum hire period), or
- As a fixed price for clearly defined jobs
Our quotes will explain:
- How many movers and which size van you are getting
- What is included in the time (loading, travel, unloading)
- Any extra costs such as congestion or parking charges, if applicable
There are no hidden extras – we agree everything in advance so you can budget confidently.
Why Choose Professional Man with Van Over DIY
Hiring a casual man with a van or doing it yourself can seem cheaper, but often ends up costing more in time, stress and damage. With Man and Van Blackheath you get:
- Trained movers who know how to lift safely and protect your belongings
- Fully insured transport, unlike many informal operators
- Reliable arrival times and proper planning
- Clean, well-equipped vans with blankets, straps and trolleys
- Accountability – a local, established company you can reach easily
This reduces the risk of injury, damage, and last-minute cancellations that can ruin a moving day.
Insurance and Professional Standards
We take our responsibilities seriously. Every move we undertake is covered by:
- Goods in transit insurance – protecting your belongings while they are in our van
- Public liability cover – in case of accidental damage to property or third parties
Our teams are trained in safe lifting, loading, and securing loads. We follow best practice for route planning, driving standards and customer care, and we continually update our methods based on experience across hundreds of Blackheath moves.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
We treat your belongings as if they were our own. Furniture is wrapped or blanketed, mattresses are protected, and items are stacked for stability, not just speed. Where possible, we use reusable protective covers and blankets to cut down on single-use plastics.
We also plan routes to reduce unnecessary mileage and combine small jobs where practical, helping to lower our environmental impact while still providing a punctual, reliable service.
Real-World Ways Our Man with Van Blackheath Service Helps
Moving House or Flat
Perfect for studio, one-bedroom and light two-bedroom moves, or as an extra vehicle alongside a main removals crew. We manage the entire move from door to door, keeping disruption to a minimum.
Office and Business Relocations
For small offices or single-room moves, our service is a cost-effective way to shift desks, chairs, files and IT equipment. We can work outside normal hours to reduce downtime.
Urgent and Same-Day Moves
When something falls through or plans change at the last minute, we do our best to offer same-day man with van support in Blackheath and across London, subject to availability. We focus on clear communication so you know exactly what we can achieve in the time.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a man with van in Blackheath cost?
Costs depend mainly on how long you need us, how many movers are required, and the distance between addresses. For straightforward local jobs, we usually charge an hourly rate with a minimum hire period, which we will explain clearly before you book. Fixed prices are available for well-defined moves, such as a specific flat move or single-item collection. To give an accurate figure, we will ask for a list or photos of what needs moving plus access information, so there are no surprises on the day.
Can you provide same-day or urgent man with van in Blackheath?
Yes, we often can, depending on our schedule. If you need urgent help, call us as early as possible with your details. We will check which vans and teams are available and confirm what we can realistically do within your timeframe. We may suggest prioritising essential items if time is tight. While we cannot guarantee same-day slots every time, we will always give you an honest answer and, if we are fully booked, we will advise on your best alternatives.
Are my belongings insured during the move?
Yes. Your goods are protected by our goods in transit insurance while they are in our care, and we also carry public liability cover. This means that, subject to our terms and conditions and sensible packing, you have financial protection if the unexpected happens. We will explain the main points of cover when you book, including any limits or exclusions. If you have particularly high-value items, let us know in advance so we can confirm whether they fall within our standard cover or need special arrangements.
What exactly is included in your man with van service?
Our standard service includes the van, fuel, an experienced driver, and at least one trained mover to load, transport and unload your belongings. We supply blankets, straps and basic protective materials for furniture. We will place items in the rooms you choose at the destination. Optional extras include packing services, packing materials, dismantling and reassembly of certain furniture, and additional movers for heavy or complex jobs. Everything that is and is not included is set out clearly in your quote so you know exactly what to expect.
What is the difference between your service and a basic man-and-van?
A basic man-and-van is often informal, with no guarantees on training, insurance or reliability. Our service is run by a professional removals company with fully insured vehicles, trained staff and proper planning. We use the right equipment, take care to protect your belongings, and provide written confirmations and clear terms. In practice, this means fewer last-minute cancellations, far lower risk of damage or injury, and a smoother, less stressful moving experience for you.
How far in advance should I book?
For weekends and month-end dates, we recommend booking at least one to two weeks in advance, as these periods fill up quickly. For midweek or off-peak slots, a few days’ notice is often enough. That said, we know moves do not always go to plan, so we keep some flexibility for short-notice jobs where we can. The earlier you contact us, the more choice you will have on times, van size and crew numbers, and the better we can plan to keep your move running smoothly.

Renters
Perfect for tenants moving between flats, house shares or studio apartments. We are used to tight staircases, lift restrictions and timed access. Our team can handle everything from disassembling bed frames to carrying appliances safely.
Landlords
We assist landlords with quick furniture moves, part-furnished properties, end-of-tenancy clear-outs (non-waste) and staging moves. We work efficiently and can coordinate directly with tenants or agents where required.
Businesses
Small offices, shops and consultancies rely on our man and a van service for moving desks, filing, IT equipment and stock. We operate at times that minimise downtime and can provide multiple porters for heavier or more complex items.
Students
Students moving to or from Blackheath, Greenwich, Lewisham and surrounding campuses use us for cost-effective moves. We can move boxes, suitcases, small furniture and bikes in a single run, making the whole process quick and straightforward.
What Our Man and a Van Service Includes
Items We Typically Move
- Household furniture – beds, sofas, wardrobes, tables and chairs
- Appliances – washing machines, fridges, freezers, tumble dryers
- Boxes, crates, bags and suitcases
- Office furniture, filing cabinets and IT equipment
- Student belongings – books, clothes, small furniture and electronics
- Sporting equipment, bikes, gym equipment
All items are securely loaded and protected with removal blankets, straps and floor protection as needed.
Items We Cannot Move
To keep everyone safe and insured, there are some items we cannot transport:
- Hazardous materials (fuel, gas bottles, chemicals, paint thinners)
- Illegal goods of any kind
- Large quantities of rubble, builders’ waste or general rubbish
- Livestock or pets
- Very high-value items without prior agreement (artwork, antiques, jewellery)
If you are unsure about a particular item, just ask – we will give clear guidance and, where possible, suggest specialist services.
How Our Man and a Van Service Works
1. Enquiry & Quote
You contact us with your move details – addresses, dates, property type, and what needs moving. From there, we provide a clear, no-obligation quote, either as an hourly rate or a fixed price depending on the job. We explain exactly what is included so there are no surprises on the day.
2. Survey – Virtual or Onsite
For anything more than a very small job, we recommend a quick survey. This is usually done via video call or photos, but we can attend in person if the access is complex. The survey allows us to choose the right size van, number of porters, and plan for stairs, parking and any dismantling needed.
3. Packing & Preparation
You can pack your own boxes, or we can provide a packing service at an additional cost. Either way, on moving day our team arrives with blankets, trolleys and basic tools. We can dismantle and reassemble standard furniture as agreed, and we protect doors, floors and banisters where required.
4. Loading & Transport
Your items are carefully loaded into our clean, well-maintained vans by trained staff. Heavy and fragile items are positioned and secured properly to prevent movement in transit. We then travel directly to your new address, using routes that avoid low bridges, weight limits and unnecessary delays.
5. Unloading & Placement
On arrival, we unload and place items in the rooms you specify, not just in the hallway. If we have agreed to reassemble furniture, we complete this before leaving. Before we go, we will check you are happy with the placement and that nothing has been missed from the vehicle.
Transparent Man and a Van Pricing in Blackheath
We believe in clear, straightforward pricing. Our man and a van work is usually charged in one of two ways:
- Hourly rate – suitable for smaller, local moves or where the exact volume is hard to judge.
- Fixed price – ideal for defined jobs where we have completed a survey and know the scope.
Your quote will set out:
- Van size and number of movers
- Minimum booking time (if any)
- What is included (loading, unloading, basic dismantling, travel)
- Any additional services requested (packing, materials, extra stops)
There are no hidden charges for stairs or standard walking distances, and any potential extras (for example, congestion charges or extended waiting times) are always explained in advance.
Why Choose a Professional Man and a Van Over DIY
Hiring a casual van or roping in friends can seem cheaper, but it often costs more in time, damage and stress. A professional man and a van service gives you:
- Trained movers who know how to lift, carry and protect items safely
- Proper equipment – trolleys, straps, blankets and tools
- Fully insured transport, so your goods are protected
- Efficient loading and route planning to reduce time and disruption
- A reliable schedule, not last-minute cancellations
For many customers, the difference in cost between DIY and a professional man and a van is small, but the difference in outcome is significant.
Insurance and Professional Standards
As an established removals company in Blackheath, we operate to clear professional standards. Your belongings and your property are protected throughout the move.
Goods in Transit Insurance
All moves are covered by goods in transit insurance, giving protection against loss or damage while your items are in our care. We will explain the cover levels, any exclusions, and how best to pack valuables so they are fully protected.
Public Liability Cover
We hold public liability insurance, protecting you and your building in the unlikely event of accidental damage or injury caused during our work. This is particularly important in communal areas, managed blocks and commercial premises.
Trained Moving Teams
Our staff are employed or regularly contracted, not picked up on the day. They are trained in manual handling, safe lifting techniques, and how to work respectfully in people’s homes and workplaces. We also provide ongoing guidance and supervision from experienced team leaders.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
We treat every move as if it were our own belongings and our own property.
- Use of removal blankets, mattress covers and floor protectors where needed
- Careful planning to avoid scuffs, scrapes and unnecessary trips through your home
- Safe loading so items do not shift or get crushed in transit
- Use of reusable protection materials to reduce waste
- Route planning to reduce unnecessary mileage and fuel use
Where possible, we reuse cartons and packing materials, and we dispose of damaged materials responsibly through local recycling facilities.
Real-World Man and a Van Use Cases
Moving House or Flat
For one- and two-bedroom properties in Blackheath, a well-planned man and a van move is often the most practical solution. We can complete the entire move in one or two trips, even with tight access or controlled parking zones.
Office and Small Business Relocations
Smaller businesses use our service to relocate within the area, move surplus furniture into storage, or shift equipment between sites. We can work outside normal hours to keep your business running.
Urgent and Same-Day Moves
When plans change at short notice – tenancy dates move, sales complete unexpectedly, or you are let down by another company – we do our best to offer same-day or next-day man and a van availability in and around Blackheath, subject to existing bookings.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a man and a van in Blackheath cost?
Costs depend on the distance, access, amount of items and number of movers required. Smaller local jobs are usually charged by the hour with a minimum booking period, while larger or more complex moves are often priced as a fixed quote. When you contact us, we will ask a few structured questions to understand what is involved and then give you a clear estimate before you commit. There are no hidden extras, and we will always explain any potential additional charges up front.
Can you provide same-day or urgent man and a van bookings?
We can often arrange same-day or next-day man and a van services in Blackheath, especially outside peak times and at certain times of the month. Availability depends on existing bookings and the size of your move, so the earlier you call, the better. For urgent jobs, it helps if you can send photos or a quick video of what needs moving so we can allocate the right van and team quickly. We will always be honest about what we can realistically achieve.
Are my belongings insured during the move?
Yes. All our man and a van jobs are covered by goods in transit insurance while your items are in our vehicle, as well as public liability insurance for work on site. This gives protection against many types of accidental loss or damage. We will explain the policy limits and any exclusions, such as owner-packed fragile items or pre-existing damage. If you have particularly high-value or unusual items, let us know in advance so we can confirm cover or recommend appropriate additional arrangements.
What is included in your man and a van service?
Our standard service includes a suitable van, a driver–porter, loading and unloading, protective blankets and securing straps, and transport between your addresses. For most moves we can also include basic dismantling and reassembly of standard furniture by prior agreement. Optional extras include packing services, supply of boxes and materials, additional porters, extra pick-up or drop-off points, and out-of-hours work. Your written quote will clearly state what is included so you know exactly what to expect on the day.
What is the difference between your service and a casual man-and-van?
Many casual operators offer a van and a driver but may not provide insurance, trained staff or a consistent level of care. Our service is run by an established removals company: we are fully insured, use trained teams, and follow professional standards in packing, lifting and securing loads. We also carry the right equipment and plan access properly. The result is fewer risks, less chance of damage, and a smoother, more predictable moving experience from start to finish.
How far in advance should I book?
For weekend or month-end moves in Blackheath, we recommend booking at least two weeks in advance, as these dates fill quickly. For mid-week or off-peak moves, a few days’ notice is often enough. That said, we will always try to accommodate late bookings where our schedule allows. Once you confirm your date and time, we secure your slot and send written confirmation so you can plan around it confidently.

Our Step-by-Step Flat Removals Process
1. Enquiry & Quote
Contact Man and Van Blackheath by phone or online with your move details: addresses, flat floor level, lift access, approximate number of items and preferred dates. We will discuss any time restrictions, parking limitations and building rules. Based on this, we provide a clear, no-obligation quote outlining what is included so you know exactly what to expect.
2. Survey – Virtual or Onsite
For larger or more complex flat moves, we arrange a brief survey. This can usually be done virtually using photos or video, or onsite if needed. We assess access routes, staircases, lift dimensions, parking options and any particularly heavy or fragile items. This ensures we send the right team size, vehicle and equipment, and that there are no surprises on moving day.
3. Packing & Preparation
You can choose between:
- Full packing service – Our trained packers supply materials and pack everything for you, including fragile items.
- Part packing – We only pack breakables or specific rooms; you do the rest.
- Self-packing – You pack your own boxes; we can still supply quality packing materials.
We label items by room and destination to make unloading straightforward. Larger furniture can be dismantled where necessary and appropriate, and all items are wrapped and protected ready for loading.
4. Loading & Transport
On moving day, our professional removals team arrives on time, confirms the inventory with you and protects common areas as needed (lifts, corridors, doors). We use covers, blankets, straps and trolleys to move items safely, minimising disruption to neighbours. Everything is then loaded securely into our van and transported directly to your new address in Blackheath or beyond.
5. Unloading & Placement
At your new flat, we position items in the rooms you specify, reassemble any furniture we dismantled and place boxes where they are most useful for you. We work carefully to protect floors, walls and doorways. Before we leave, we check that everything on the agreed inventory has been unloaded and placed so you can start settling in straight away.
Transparent, Fair Pricing for Flat Removals
We believe in clear, straightforward pricing. Our quotes for Blackheath flat removals are based on:
- Volume of items and size of the move
- Flat access (floors, stairs, lift availability, walking distance)
- Travel distance between addresses
- Required team size and vehicles
- Optional extras such as packing, materials, furniture assembly
For smaller moves we often work on a competitive hourly rate; for larger flat moves we normally provide a fixed-price quotation. We will always explain what is included and any potential additional charges (for example, waiting time due to key delays) so there are no surprises.
Why Choose Professional Flat Removals Instead of DIY
Flat moves are often underestimated. Tight stairwells, heavy appliances, restricted parking and rigid building time slots can turn a DIY move into a stressful, risky exercise. Using a professional removals company like Man and Van Blackheath means:
- Reduced risk of damage to your belongings and the building
- Lower chance of personal injury from carrying awkward, heavy items
- Experienced planning around access, lifts, and building rules
- Proper protective equipment and vehicles designed for removals
- Cover from goods in transit insurance and public liability insurance
Casual man-and-van operators or borrowing a friend’s van may appear cheaper, but without the right equipment, training and cover, any damage or injury can end up costing far more in the long run.
Insurance and Professional Standards
We take responsibility for your belongings seriously. Man and Van Blackheath operates to recognised professional standards and carries:
- Goods in transit insurance – to cover your items while they are being transported
- Public liability cover – to protect you and your property while we are working on-site
Our moving teams are trained in safe handling, lifting techniques and packing methods. We follow clear procedures for inventories, loading and unloading, and we are always happy to explain how your belongings are protected at each stage.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
We treat every flat move as if we were moving our own home. Furniture and appliances are wrapped and protected, and we use mattress covers, TV protection and floor coverings where needed. We work carefully in shared spaces to avoid damage to communal areas, which is particularly important in leasehold and managed blocks.
We also aim to work as sustainably as possible. Where appropriate, we reuse sturdy packing materials, minimise unnecessary journeys and plan routes efficiently. Used boxes can often be collected for reuse or recycling, reducing waste associated with your move.
Real-World Flat Removal Scenarios in Blackheath
- Moving house – From a Blackheath village flat to a larger property or another apartment elsewhere in London, with full packing and weekend moves.
- Office relocation – Shifting a small business from a flat-based office into commercial premises, including desks, chairs and IT equipment.
- Urgent moves – Last-minute tenancy changes or short-notice completions where a prompt, efficient response is essential.
- Student moves – End-of-term or start-of-year moves between student flats and halls, often shared between friends to save costs.
Whatever your situation, we tailor the service to your timeframe, budget and building requirements.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a flat removal in Blackheath cost?
The cost of a flat removal in Blackheath depends mainly on how much you have to move, the access at each property and the distance between addresses. Smaller studio or one-bed moves may be priced on an hourly rate, while larger or more complex moves are usually quoted as a fixed price. Optional services like packing and furniture assembly will also affect the cost. When you contact us, we’ll ask a few simple questions and then provide a clear, itemised quotation with no hidden extras.
Can you handle same-day or urgent flat moves?
Yes, we can often accommodate same-day or short-notice flat removals in Blackheath, especially for smaller moves. Availability depends on our schedule and the scale of your move, so it’s best to call us as early as possible if you need an urgent service. We’ll quickly assess what’s required, confirm whether we can help within your timeframe and outline any limitations, such as building access hours or parking constraints. Even for urgent moves, we still work methodically to protect your belongings and the property.
Are my belongings insured during the move?
Yes. Your belongings are covered by our goods in transit insurance while they are being transported in our vehicles, and we carry public liability insurance for work at your properties. This provides protection in the unlikely event of damage or an incident during the move. We will explain the key terms and limits of our cover when we prepare your quotation. For very high-value or unusual items, we may recommend additional specialist cover or alternative arrangements to ensure everything is fully protected.
What’s included in your flat removals service?
Our standard flat removals service includes a removals vehicle, a professional moving team, protective equipment, loading at your current flat, transport and unloading at your new address. We place items in the rooms you specify and can disassemble and reassemble basic furniture if agreed in advance. Optional extras include packing services, supply of packing materials and temporary storage. We’ll confirm exactly what is and isn’t included in your written quote so you know precisely what to expect on moving day.
How is a professional flat removal different from a basic man-and-van?
A basic man-and-van service often focuses purely on transport, with limited support for planning, protection or insurance. Our flat removals in Blackheath are carried out by trained teams using the right equipment, with careful planning around building access, timings and any restrictions. We provide written quotes, documented bookings, goods in transit insurance and public liability cover as standard. We also offer packing, dismantling and placement services. In short, you receive a complete, managed move rather than just a van and a driver.
How far in advance should I book my flat removal?
For the best choice of dates and times, we recommend booking your Blackheath flat removal 2–4 weeks in advance, particularly if you are moving at the end of the month, on a Friday or during peak seasons. That said, we understand that completion dates and tenancy agreements can change at short notice, so we always try to be flexible. Even if your date is not fixed, it’s helpful to contact us early so we can note your anticipated move window and pencil in provisional arrangements.

Businesses
For small businesses operating from home or moving between live/work spaces in Blackheath, we offer reliable office and home-office removals. We carefully handle computers, documents and stock so your downtime is kept to a minimum.
Students
Students moving to or from Blackheath halls or shared houses benefit from our flexible, smaller-load service. We can move single rooms or a few items, and share vans where appropriate to keep costs sensible.
What Our House Removals Service Includes
Items Commonly Moved
- All household furniture – beds, wardrobes, sofas, tables, chairs, sideboards
- White goods – fridges, freezers, washing machines, dryers, dishwashers
- Electronics – TVs, audio systems, PCs, gaming equipment
- Personal effects – clothing, books, ornaments, kitchenware
- Artwork, mirrors and delicate items, properly wrapped and protected
- Garden items – furniture, tools, barbecues (clean and empty)
- Garage and loft contents, boxed and labelled
Items We Cannot Move or Move Only by Arrangement
For safety and legal reasons, some items are either excluded or need special arrangement:
- Hazardous materials – petrol, gas cylinders, solvents, paints, chemicals
- Illegal or controlled items
- Live animals (including pets and livestock)
- Perishable food for long-distance moves
- Very high-value items (e.g. fine art, jewellery, collections) without prior declaration
- Pianos, safes and very heavy specialist items – we can often move these, but only by prior agreement and survey
If you are unsure about a specific item, we will advise during the quotation and survey stage.
Our Step-by-Step House Removals Process
1. Enquiry & Quote
You contact us with the basic details of your move: addresses, approximate move date, size of property and any special requirements. We then provide a clear, no-obligation estimate. For straightforward moves, we can often quote from your list of items and photos.
2. Survey (Virtual or Onsite)
For larger or more complex moves, we arrange a short survey – either onsite in Blackheath or via video call. This lets us check access, parking, the volume of goods and any fragile or awkward items. The survey helps us allocate the right size vehicle and team, and confirm a fixed quotation so there are no surprises on moving day.
3. Packing & Preparation
We offer:
Full packing service – we supply materials and carefully pack everything.
Part packing service – we pack fragile or high-risk items such as glassware, pictures and TVs.
Self-packing – you pack your own boxes; we can still supply quality packing materials on request.
On the day, we protect furniture with blankets and covers, and use floor protection where required in both properties.
4. Loading & Transport
Our trained removals team systematically loads your belongings, securing items to prevent movement in transit. We use straps, blankets and specialist equipment such as dollies, piano skids (when arranged) and sack trucks to move heavier pieces safely. Your goods are transported directly to your new property in our well-maintained vehicles under our goods in transit insurance.
5. Unloading & Placement
On arrival, we unload in an organised way, placing furniture and boxes into the rooms you specify. We can rebuild basic furniture that was dismantled by us (for example bed frames and tables) and position large items where you want them, so you can start settling in straight away.
Transparent Pricing for House Removals in Blackheath
We believe in clear, straightforward pricing. Our quotes are based on:
- Volume of goods and number of rooms
- Access and distance between properties
- Whether packing services and materials are required
- Number of movers and vehicles needed
- Any special items (pianos, very heavy or fragile pieces)
You will receive a written quotation detailing what is included. There are no hidden charges for things we have agreed in advance, and any potential extras (such as waiting time due to delayed key release) are clearly explained before you book.
Why Choose Professional Removals Over DIY
Hiring a professional removals team is not just about convenience; it also protects your belongings and your property. With DIY or casual man-and-van services, you may face:
- Limited or no insurance cover if items are damaged
- Inadequate equipment and protection materials
- Risk of injury when lifting heavy items incorrectly
- Delays and complications from lack of planning
Our professional service provides trained movers, the right equipment and vehicles, and a structured plan for your move. This reduces stress, saves time and often ends up more cost-effective when you factor in vehicle hire, fuel, materials and the risk of damaged items.
Insurance and Professional Standards
Man and Van Blackheath operates to high standards to give you peace of mind:
- Goods in transit insurance – covering your belongings while they are in our vehicles, subject to policy terms.
- Public liability cover – protecting you and your property against accidental damage caused by our team.
- Trained moving teams – our staff are experienced in safe lifting, packing and handling techniques.
We are happy to discuss cover levels and exclusions so you know exactly what is and is not protected. For particularly high-value items, we can advise on additional cover or special handling.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
We treat your belongings and your property as if they were our own. Furniture is wrapped and secured, and we take care to avoid marks on walls, doors and floors. We use re-usable blankets and durable, re-usable crates where possible, and we encourage customers to reuse or recycle packing materials.
Route planning is done sensibly to reduce unnecessary mileage, and we consolidate smaller moves where practical to reduce our environmental impact while keeping costs fair.
Real-World House Removal Use Cases
Moving House in Blackheath
Whether you are upsizing to a family home near the heath or downsizing to a flat, we manage the entire move. We coordinate with you around completion and key collection times and are used to working alongside estate agents and solicitors’ timelines.
Office and Home-Office Moves
For clients combining home and work, we can move domestic contents alongside office furniture, stock and equipment in a single, well-planned move. Sensitive documents and IT equipment are handled with extra care.
Urgent and Short-Notice Moves
Situations change quickly – tenancy agreements end, completion dates move, or circumstances require a fast relocation. Where availability allows, we can provide same-day or next-day removals in Blackheath and nearby areas, with a streamlined booking and survey process.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a house removal in Blackheath cost?
The cost depends mainly on the volume of belongings, access at each property, distance travelled and whether you need packing services. Smaller local moves may be priced on an hourly rate with a minimum booking, while larger house moves are usually quoted as a fixed price after a survey. To give a fair figure, we ask about the number of rooms, special items and dates. Once surveyed, we provide a written quotation so you know exactly what you will pay.
Can you do same-day or urgent house removals?
Yes, subject to availability. We understand that moves can be urgent due to unexpected changes in completion dates, landlord requirements or personal circumstances. If you need a same-day or short-notice move in or around Blackheath, contact us as early as possible with details of your property size, locations and timing. We will check our schedule, advise what is realistic, and if we can’t accommodate the full move, we may be able to move the most important items first.
Are my belongings insured during the move?
Your items are covered by our goods in transit insurance while they are being transported in our vehicles, and we also carry public liability cover for work at your property. Insurance does have limits and exclusions, especially for certain high-value or fragile items, so we always explain the key terms before you book. You should also check your own home insurance policy, as some providers offer additional cover for moving day that can sit alongside our protection.
What is included in your house removals service?
Our standard service includes loading all agreed items, safe transport between properties, and unloading into the rooms you choose. We protect furniture with blankets and covers, and we can dismantle and reassemble basic items if agreed in advance. Optional extras include full or part packing services, supply of packing materials, disposal of unwanted items and out-of-hours moves. Your written quotation will clearly list everything included, so you know exactly what to expect on the day.
How is a professional removals service different from a basic man-and-van?
A casual man-and-van often offers simple transport only, with limited labour, equipment and insurance. Our professional removals service provides trained teams, the right size vehicles, proper protective materials and structured planning from survey to placement of furniture. We carry formal goods in transit and public liability insurance, work to agreed timescales, and can handle packing, dismantling and complex moves. This reduces the risk of damage, delays and unexpected costs that can occur with informal services.
How far in advance should I book my house removal?
For most moves, we recommend booking as soon as you have a likely move date, especially if you are moving at month-end or during busy periods such as summer. Two to four weeks’ notice is ideal for larger properties, as it allows time for surveys, planning and packing. However, we regularly help customers at shorter notice, and we will always try to fit you in where our schedule allows. The earlier you contact us, the more options we can offer.

Our Step-by-Step Furniture Removals Process
1. Enquiry & Quote
Contact us by phone or online with details of the furniture you need moved, your addresses and preferred dates. We will ask a few focused questions about access, parking and any special items. Based on this, we provide a clear, no-obligation quote with no hidden extras.
2. Survey – Virtual or Onsite
For larger moves or more complex properties, we may recommend a brief virtual or onsite survey. This helps us assess staircases, lifts, door widths and parking arrangements around Blackheath. The survey ensures we send the right size vehicle, the right number of trained movers and the correct equipment on the day.
3. Packing & Preparation
You can pack your own smaller items, or choose our packing service where we provide materials and do it for you. For furniture, we protect items with padded covers, moving blankets and shrink wrap where needed. We can also dismantle and reassemble beds, wardrobes and other flat-pack furniture, if requested in advance.
4. Loading & Transport
On moving day, our team arrives on time, carries out a brief walkthrough and then begins careful loading. We use trolleys, dollies and lifting straps to protect both your furniture and our staff. Items are loaded in a planned order and securely strapped inside our vehicles. Your furniture is then transported safely to your new address using the most efficient route.
5. Unloading & Placement
At the destination, we unload systematically and place furniture in the rooms you specify. We can reassemble agreed items, position furniture, and make sure you are happy with everything before we leave. Any packing materials we have supplied are collected for reuse or recycling where possible.
Transparent Pricing for Furniture Removals in Blackheath
Our pricing is straightforward and explained clearly before you book. Costs are typically based on:
- Volume and type of furniture
- Distance between addresses
- Access and complexity (stairs, long carries, parking restrictions)
- Number of movers required
- Optional extras such as packing or furniture dismantling
We offer both fixed-price quotes for defined moves and hourly rates for smaller or flexible jobs. All quotes specify what is included, so you know exactly what you are paying for.
Why Choose Professional Removals Over DIY or Casual Man-and-Van
Attempting to move heavy furniture yourself or using an unregulated, casual man-and-van can lead to damage, injury and unexpected costs. Our professional service provides:
- Trained staff who know how to lift, carry and manoeuvre large items safely
- Specialist equipment and vehicles designed for removals
- Goods in transit insurance protecting your furniture while it is being moved
- Reliable scheduling and clear communication
- Proper planning for access, parking and building rules in Blackheath
In short, professional removals reduce risk, stress and the chance of avoidable damage to both your belongings and your property.
Insurance & Professional Standards
Man and Van Blackheath operates to clear standards to protect you and your belongings:
- Goods in transit insurance to cover your furniture while it is being transported
- Public liability cover providing protection in the unlikely event of damage to property or third parties
- Trained moving teams experienced in handling furniture safely and efficiently
- Regularly maintained vehicles fitted for secure load restraint
Full details of cover and limits are available on request, and we are happy to explain exactly how your items are protected.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
We treat your furniture as if it were our own. Corners, surfaces and delicate finishes are protected, and we use proper lifting techniques to avoid knocks and scrapes. Floors and walls are safeguarded with runners and padding where needed.
We also take a responsible approach to the environment. Reusable moving blankets and crates are used wherever possible, and cardboard and plastic materials are recycled. When we remove unwanted furniture, we prioritise reuse, donation or responsible recycling over landfill.
Real-World Furniture Removal Scenarios We Handle

Moving an entire household in or out of Blackheath, including bedrooms, lounge, dining room, study and garden furniture. We plan the move in stages, so everything arrives in order and is placed exactly where you want it.
Office and Workspace Moves
Relocating an office, studio or clinic with desks, chairs, storage units and specialist furniture. We can work outside standard hours to reduce disruption to your business.
Urgent and Same-Day Furniture Moves
When you need furniture moved at short notice – for example, a last-minute tenancy change or urgent clearance – we do our best to offer same-day or next-day slots, subject to availability. Clear, realistic timeframes are always given before you commit.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do furniture removals in Blackheath cost?
Costs depend on the volume and type of furniture, distance between addresses, access issues and the number of movers required. Smaller moves may be charged by the hour, while full households are usually priced as a fixed quote. Extras such as packing, dismantling and reassembly are itemised separately. Once we have your details, we provide a clear, written price with no hidden fees, so you can compare and budget with confidence before deciding to go ahead.
Can you handle same-day or urgent furniture removals?
Yes, we can often accommodate same-day or urgent bookings in Blackheath, especially for smaller furniture moves or single items. Availability depends on our existing schedule, but we will always be honest about what we can realistically achieve. If we cannot meet your exact time, we will offer the closest available slot. Contact us as early as possible, and have your addresses and item list ready so we can confirm quickly.
Are my items insured during the move?
Yes. We provide goods in transit insurance for your furniture while it is being moved, and public liability cover for work carried out in and around your property. This gives you reassurance that you are properly protected in the unlikely event something goes wrong. Insurance is designed to complement, not replace, your own home or business cover, so we are happy to explain how the policies work together and what the limits are for your particular move.
What is included in your furniture removals service?
Our standard service includes loading, safe transport and unloading of your furniture between the agreed addresses, plus basic protection using blankets and straps. We place items in the rooms you specify and work carefully to protect your property. Optional extras include packing of smaller items, supply of boxes and materials, and dismantling and reassembly of certain furniture pieces. All inclusions and exclusions are listed clearly in your quote, so you know exactly what to expect on the day.
How is a professional removals service different from a basic man-and-van?
A casual man-and-van typically offers transport only, often without formal training, specialist equipment or insurance. Our professional removals service provides trained staff, appropriate vehicles, goods in transit insurance and public liability cover. We plan access, protect your furniture and property, and offer clear, written quotes. The overall result is a safer, more reliable move with far less risk of damage, delay or unexpected extra charges compared with informal arrangements.
How far in advance should I book my furniture removal?
For larger house or office moves, we recommend booking at least two to three weeks in advance, especially if you need a specific date or time. For smaller furniture moves within Blackheath, a few days’ notice is often sufficient, though more is always helpful. We do our best to accommodate late bookings and urgent moves, but availability can be limited at busy times of year, so contacting us early gives you the best choice of slots.

Our Step-by-Step Same Day Removals Process
1. Enquiry & Quote
Call or message us as early as possible in the day. We will ask about your locations, access, volume of items and timing. For same day moves, we work quickly to check availability and provide a clear, no-obligation quote based on your information.
2. Survey – Virtual or Onsite
For urgent moves, we usually carry out a quick virtual survey using photos, video or a detailed phone discussion. This allows us to estimate the right vehicle size, number of movers and time required. For larger properties, we may recommend a rapid onsite visit if timing permits.
3. Packing & Preparation
On same day bookings, most customers handle their own packing. However, our team will still bring basic protective materials and can assist with:
- Wrapping and protecting furniture and delicate items
- Dismantling simple furniture where necessary
- Advising on safe packing and labelling at short notice
4. Loading & Transport
Our trained team carefully loads your belongings, using blankets, straps and appropriate stacking methods to prevent movement in transit. We plan the route with local Blackheath knowledge to avoid unnecessary delays, keeping you updated on timings throughout.
5. Unloading & Placement
At your new property, we unload items into the rooms you specify, placing furniture where you want it. We will reassemble simple items we dismantled, space and time allowing, and we work with you to ensure essentials are accessible first.
Transparent Pricing for Same Day Removals
Same day removals in Blackheath are priced fairly and transparently. Costs typically depend on:
- Distance between addresses
- Volume of items and vehicle size required
- Number of movers needed
- Access issues (stairs, long walks, parking limitations)
- Time of day and urgency
We usually work on a fixed price or clear hourly rate agreed before the job starts, so you know what to expect. There are no hidden extras; any potential additional charges (such as congestion or parking costs) are explained in advance wherever possible.
Why Choose Professional Same Day Removals Over DIY
In urgent situations it can be tempting to hire a cheap van or ask friends to help. However, a trained, professional removals team offers significant advantages:
- Reduced risk of damage to property, belongings and buildings
- Faster loading and unloading thanks to experience and technique
- Proper equipment and vehicles suited to removals work
- Goods in transit insurance and public liability cover
- Clear timings and accountability
With Man and Van Blackheath you are not just hiring a vehicle; you are engaging an experienced removals team that takes responsibility for getting you moved safely, even on the same day.
Insurance and Professional Standards
We operate with full removals-specific insurance and robust working standards:
- Goods in transit insurance – protecting your belongings while they are in our care and on our vehicles, up to agreed limits.
- Public liability cover – covering accidental damage to third-party property or injury arising from our work.
- Trained moving teams – experienced staff knowledgeable in lifting techniques, packing methods and property protection.
We follow sensible risk assessments, use appropriate protective equipment and always aim to work safely around your home, neighbours and members of the public.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
Urgency never means carelessness. We protect your belongings and property by:
- Using blankets, covers and straps as standard
- Protecting doorways, bannisters and floors where practical
- Planning loads to avoid crushing or movement in transit
We also take a responsible approach to sustainability. Where possible we reuse durable packing materials, minimise unnecessary journeys through good route planning and dispose of any waste through licensed channels if instructed to remove unwanted items.
Typical Same Day Removals Scenarios
Moving House at Short Notice
Completion dates can change suddenly. We regularly help Blackheath homeowners move on the same day when their original plans have fallen through, coordinating with agents and solicitors where required.
Urgent Office Relocation
Businesses sometimes need to exit premises quickly due to lease issues or building works. We move desks, chairs, IT equipment and documents efficiently, helping you get back up and running as quickly as possible.
Emergency Moves and Evacuations
Flooding, building problems or unexpected personal circumstances can all create an urgent need to move. Our experienced team handles these situations sensitively, prioritising safety and clear communication.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do same day removals in Blackheath cost?
Costs vary depending on distance, volume, access and how many movers are required, but we always provide a clear quote before starting. For smaller local moves, we may offer an hourly rate with a minimum booking period; larger or more complex jobs are usually priced as a fixed fee. Same day work can be slightly higher than pre-booked moves due to scheduling and staffing pressures, but we keep pricing fair and transparent, explaining all charges upfront so you can make an informed decision.
Can you always offer same day or urgent availability?
Availability depends on our existing bookings and staffing on the day. We handle a lot of work in Blackheath, so there are times when vehicles or crews are fully committed. However, we prioritise urgent enquiries wherever possible, reshuffling schedules when it can be done without letting other customers down. The earlier in the day you contact us, the better the chance we can accommodate you. Even if we cannot move everything, we may be able to offer a part-load or key-item solution.
Are my belongings insured during a same day move?
Yes. Our same day removals are covered by the same goods in transit insurance and public liability policies as our pre-planned moves. Your items are protected while in our custody, subject to the usual terms, conditions and policy limits. We will explain these clearly on request. For particularly high-value items, we may ask for details in advance so we can confirm appropriate cover or recommend additional protection if required. Insurance is one of the main advantages of using a professional removals company.
What is included in your same day removals service?
Our service includes the vehicle, fuel, a trained removals team, standard protective equipment and the loading, transport and unloading of your belongings between the agreed addresses. We will place items in the rooms you specify and can dismantle or reassemble simple furniture where time allows. Packing is normally carried out by you for same day moves, although we can help protect key items on arrival. Any additional services, such as waste disposal or extensive packing, must be agreed in advance.
How is a professional removals service different from a basic man-and-van?
A casual man-and-van may offer simple transport, but a professional removals service provides far more: trained staff, appropriate equipment, specialist insurance and structured processes designed to protect your belongings and property. We understand access issues, parking, loading plans and how to move bulky items safely. Our quotations are clear, our timings are agreed in advance, and we take responsibility for the entire move from start to finish, not just driving a van from A to B.
How far in advance should I book, and can I still try on the day?
For peace of mind, it is best to book as soon as you know your moving date, especially for larger properties or office relocations. However, we recognise that life is not always that tidy, which is why we run a dedicated same day removals service in Blackheath. If you find yourself needing to move at very short notice, contact us immediately. We will check live availability and do everything reasonably possible to fit you in or offer a practical alternative.
Man and Van
Man and Van Blackheath – Professional Local Moving Service
At Man and Van Blackheath, we provide a reliable, well-organised man and van removals service across Blackheath and the surrounding areas. As local removals professionals, we combine the flexibility of a traditional man-and-van with the standards you would expect from a full removals company – clear communication, careful handling, and fully insured transport.
What Our Man and Van Service Includes
Our man and van service is designed for moves that are too big for a car, but don’t necessarily need a full-scale removals crew. Typical jobs include:
- Flat and small house moves in and around Blackheath
- Single-item and part-load moves (sofas, wardrobes, white goods)
- Student moves to and from halls or shared houses
- Small office and shop relocations
- Furniture collections from stores or storage units
You get a dedicated van with a trained driver-mover and, where needed, additional porters to do the lifting. All vehicles carry blankets, straps, and basic tools for furniture that needs partial dismantling.
Local Expertise in Blackheath
Working daily in Blackheath means we understand the area’s specific challenges – from tight Victorian terraces and basements to parking restrictions near the heath and the station. We plan routes and timings carefully to minimise delays, avoid known bottlenecks and, where applicable, advise on parking suspensions or access issues in advance.
Because we’re genuinely local, we can often offer short-notice and off-peak slots, especially for moves within Blackheath, Lewisham, Greenwich, and neighbouring districts.
Who Our Man and Van Service Is For
Homeowners
Ideal for smaller house moves, clearing a garage or loft, or transporting new large items. We protect floors, doorways, and bannisters, and treat your home with respect from start to finish.
Renters
Whether you’re moving between flats or out of a shared house, our professional team helps keep deposit disputes at bay by preventing damage to walls and communal areas and moving you in a single, well-planned trip where possible.
Landlords
We regularly help landlords with part-furnished and unfurnished lets – removing unwanted items, moving in furniture sets, and clearing properties between tenancies quickly and efficiently.
Businesses
For smaller offices, studios, and shops, our man and van service is a cost-effective option. We can move desks, stock, computers, and light machinery, with goods in transit insurance providing added peace of mind.
Students
Students moving to or from Blackheath benefit from a simple, low-fuss solution for boxes, bikes, and a few bits of furniture. We can often group smaller moves to keep costs down while still providing a reliable door-to-door service.
Items We Can and Cannot Move
Items Typically Included
- Household furniture (beds, sofas, tables, wardrobes, bookcases)
- White goods (fridges, freezers, washing machines, cookers)
- Boxes, bags, and plastic crates
- Office furniture and equipment
- Disassembled flat-pack furniture
- Personal belongings, books, clothing, and small electronics
Items We Cannot Move
- Hazardous materials (gas bottles, fuel, chemicals, paint tins)
- Illegal items or anything prohibited by law
- Industrial machinery outside normal van capacity
- Animals or live plants in unsuitable conditions
- High-value artwork or specialist items without prior agreement
If you are unsure whether an item is suitable for a man and van service, we will advise during the enquiry so there are no surprises on the day.
Our Step-by-Step Man and Van Process
1. Enquiry & Quotation
You contact us with your move details – addresses, dates, item list, and any access notes (stairs, lifts, parking). We’ll ask a few focused questions and then provide a clear, no-obligation quote, normally the same day.
2. Survey – Virtual or Onsite
For most man and van jobs, a quick virtual survey (photos or video call) is enough. For larger or more complex moves in Blackheath, we can visit in person. This helps us allocate the right size van, the right number of movers, and the correct time slot.
3. Packing & Preparation
You can pack your own boxes, or choose our packing service for added convenience. We can supply packing materials in advance. On moving day, we protect key items with blankets and shrink-wrap where needed, and we can carefully dismantle beds and wardrobes that won’t fit through doors or stairwells.
4. Loading & Transport
Our trained team loads the van methodically, securing furniture with straps and stacking boxes safely to prevent movement during transit. We choose the most efficient routes across Blackheath and beyond, aiming to keep to your agreed time window and avoid unnecessary delays.
5. Unloading & Placement
On arrival, we unload into the rooms you specify and reassemble any furniture we dismantled. We position larger items where you want them, helping you get functional again as quickly as possible. Before we leave, we check that everything is off the vehicle and you’re happy with the placement.
Transparent, Fair Pricing
We prefer straightforward pricing so you know where you stand. Most man and van jobs are priced either:
- By the hour (minimum booking period), or
- As a fixed price for clearly defined jobs
Rates take into account:
- Number of movers required
- Size of van and distance travelled
- Access conditions (stairs, long walks, no lift)
- Any additional services such as packing or furniture assembly
All costs are explained in advance, and any potential extras (such as waiting charges for keys) are made clear before you book, so there are no unexpected add-ons on the day.
Why Choose Professional Man and Van Over DIY
Hiring a van yourself or asking friends for help may look cheaper, but it often becomes more stressful, time-consuming, and risky than expected. With our professional man and van team you benefit from:
- Experienced movers who know how to protect property and belongings
- Appropriate equipment – trolleys, blankets, straps, and tools
- Goods in transit insurance that personal hire vans don’t include
- Efficient loading so you often need fewer trips
- Reduced risk of injury from lifting heavy or awkward items
For many customers in Blackheath, the difference in outcome – less damage, less stress, and a smoother move – more than justifies choosing a professional team.
Insurance & Professional Standards
Your belongings are important, and we treat them that way. Man and Van Blackheath operates with:
- Goods in transit insurance to protect items while they are in our care and on our vehicles
- Public liability cover for your property and third parties during the move
- Trained moving teams who follow safe lifting, loading, and driving practices
Our staff are briefed before every job, arrive in appropriate workwear, and follow clear procedures for handling fragile, bulky, and valuable items. If you have specific requirements, we will note them on the booking so the crew can follow them on the day.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
We place a strong emphasis on care and environmental responsibility. Your furniture is protected with reusable, padded blankets and, where possible, we use reusable crates instead of single-use boxes. We plan routes to minimise unnecessary mileage and group smaller jobs where practical to reduce fuel use.
We also encourage customers to recycle or donate unwanted items before moving, and we can signpost you to local Blackheath charities and recycling centres if needed.
Common Man and Van Use Cases in Blackheath
Moving House or Flat
For one- or two-bedroom properties, our man and van service is often all you need. We can complete most local moves in a single trip, keeping disruption to a minimum and allowing you to settle in quickly.
Small Office Relocations
When you’re moving a compact office within Blackheath or to nearby business districts, our service provides a flexible solution. We can schedule outside your core working hours to reduce downtime and ensure sensitive equipment is handled carefully.
Urgent or Same-Day Moves
From last-minute key changes to urgent clearances, we regularly assist with short-notice moves, subject to availability. Our local base means we can often get a van to Blackheath addresses quicker than larger, national firms.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a man and van service in Blackheath cost?
Costs vary depending on the size of the van, the number of movers, distance, and the time required. Smaller local moves with one mover are usually charged by the hour with a minimum booking period, while larger jobs may be priced as a fixed quote. Factors such as difficult access, stairs, or heavy items can affect the overall time. We always provide a clear estimate before you book, and we’re happy to suggest ways to keep costs down, for example by being fully packed and ready when we arrive.
Can you do same-day or urgent man and van jobs?
Yes, subject to availability we can often provide same-day or next-day man and van services in Blackheath and nearby areas. Urgent bookings work best when you can give us a straightforward summary of what needs moving, along with photos if possible, so we can allocate the right vehicle and team quickly. While we can’t guarantee last-minute slots every day, our local base and flexible scheduling mean we’re frequently able to help with emergency moves, last-minute clearances and unexpected key changes.
Are my belongings insured during the move?
Yes. Your items are covered by our goods in transit insurance while they are being loaded, transported and unloaded by our team. We also hold public liability cover for damage to property or third parties. It’s important that you tell us about any particularly high-value or delicate items before the move so we can record them and advise on any special handling or additional cover. We always recommend that you keep essential documents, jewellery, and small personal valuables with you rather than in the van.
What is included in your man and van removals service?
Our standard service includes a suitably sized van, a trained driver-mover, fuel, basic protective equipment such as blankets and straps, and loading and unloading at both addresses. We place items in the rooms you specify and can dismantle and reassemble straightforward furniture by prior agreement. Optional extras include additional movers, packing services, supply of packing materials, and disposal of certain unwanted items. We will confirm exactly what is and isn’t included in your written quote so you know precisely what to expect on the day.
What’s the difference between a removals service and a basic man-and-van?
A basic man-and-van is often just transport with limited help loading, minimal equipment, and no formal insurance. Our service sits firmly in the professional removals category: trained staff, proper protection for your belongings, documented procedures and full insurance cover. We plan each move, assess access, bring the right tools and provide clear communication throughout. For many Blackheath customers, this level of organisation and care makes a significant difference to how smoothly the day goes, especially when moving a full flat or small house.
How far in advance should I book?
To guarantee your preferred date and time, particularly at weekends and month-ends, we recommend booking at least one to two weeks in advance. However, we understand that moves are not always predictable, so we keep some flexibility for short-notice work in and around Blackheath. The more notice you can give, the easier it is to secure the ideal slot and keep costs down. Once you’re sure of your moving date, contact us with the details and we’ll confirm availability and lock in your booking.

How Our Removal Van Process Works
1. Enquiry & Quote
You contact us with details of your move: addresses, dates, property size and any special items. We discuss the job with you, clarify any access issues and provide a clear, no-obligation quote based on your requirements.
2. Survey (Virtual or Onsite)
For larger or more complex moves, we recommend a survey. This can be done by video call or an onsite visit. We assess parking, staircases, lifts, volume of items and any dismantling needed. The survey helps us send the right size van, the right number of movers and accurate timings.
3. Packing & Preparation
You can pack your own boxes, or we can provide packing services and materials at an additional cost. Either way, we advise on labelling, protecting fragile items and preparing appliances. On moving day, we protect furniture with blankets and covers before loading.
4. Loading & Transport
Our trained team loads your belongings carefully, using trolleys and handling equipment where needed. Everything is secured in the van with straps to prevent movement. We then transport your items directly to the new address, using sensible routes and driving with care.
5. Unloading & Placement
On arrival, we unload and place items into the rooms you specify. We reassemble any furniture we dismantled as part of the move, and we check that you are happy with the layout before we leave. Our aim is to leave you ready to start settling in straight away.
Transparent Pricing and How We Charge
We believe in clear, upfront pricing with no hidden extras. Removal van jobs in Blackheath are typically priced in one of two ways:
- Fixed price for full-property or clearly defined moves, based on survey and distance
- Hourly rate for smaller or more flexible jobs, with a minimum booking period
Factors that affect the price include property size, volume of goods, distances travelled, access (stairs, lifts, parking), the number of movers required and any additional services such as packing or dismantling. All costs are explained clearly in writing before you book.
Why Choose Professional Removals Over DIY
Hiring a professional removal van with a trained team is usually safer, quicker and more economical than organising everything yourself or relying on a casual man-and-van.
- We supply the right van, tools and protective equipment for the job
- Heavy lifting is carried out by experienced movers, reducing the risk of injury
- Furniture is properly wrapped and secured, reducing the chance of damage
- Timings are planned, so you are less likely to overrun rental times or access slots
- You benefit from our fully insured service rather than taking personal risk
While DIY can appear cheaper on paper, damage to belongings, vehicle hire penalties, fuel, parking tickets and lost time can quickly outweigh any savings.
Insurance and Professional Standards
Man and Van Blackheath operates to recognised professional standards. Your belongings and your property are protected throughout the move.
- Goods in transit insurance to cover your items while they are being transported
- Public liability cover to protect against accidental damage to property or third parties
- Trained moving teams with experience in safe lifting, loading and packing
- Clean, well-maintained vehicles with the right restraints and protective materials
We are happy to explain exactly what is covered and provide documentation on request, so you know where you stand before moving day.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
We treat your belongings with the same care we would give our own. Furniture is wrapped in transit blankets, mattresses are covered, and we use corner protectors where needed. Floors and carpets can be protected on request, particularly in wet weather or high-traffic areas.
We also aim to operate responsibly:
- Using reusable blankets, straps and crates where appropriate
- Offering the option of recycled or recyclable packing materials
- Planning efficient routes to reduce fuel consumption
- Encouraging clients to donate or recycle unwanted items rather than send them to landfill

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a removal van in Blackheath cost?
Costs vary depending on the size of the move, distance, access and the number of movers required. Smaller moves may be charged on an hourly basis, with a minimum booking period. Full house or office moves are often priced as a fixed quote following a survey. To give an accurate figure, we need details of your property, the volume of items, addresses and dates. Once we have this, we provide a clear, itemised price with no hidden charges.
Can you provide same-day or urgent removal van services?
Same-day or urgent moves are sometimes possible, depending on our schedule and the size of the job. If you need an urgent removal van in Blackheath, contact us as early as you can with full details. We will check availability, advise what is realistic, and if we can help, we will organise a team and vehicle quickly. Even on short notice, we work carefully and maintain our normal professional standards.
Are my belongings insured during the move?
Yes. Our service includes goods in transit insurance to cover your belongings while they are being moved in our vehicles, and public liability cover for any accidental damage to property or third parties. There are standard limits and exclusions, which we explain before you book. For particularly high-value items, we may ask you to declare them in advance so we can confirm suitable cover or recommend additional protection if needed.
What is included in your removal van service?
Our standard service includes a suitable removal van, a professional moving team, loading and unloading, use of blankets and straps, and transport between addresses. We place items into the rooms you specify at your new property. Optional extras include packing services, packing materials, furniture dismantling/reassembly and disposal of unwanted items by arrangement. We always confirm what is included in writing, so you know exactly what to expect on the day.
How is a professional removal service different from a basic man-and-van?
A casual man-and-van typically offers transport and some lifting, but may not be fully insured, trained or properly equipped. A professional removal service like ours provides experienced movers, appropriate vehicles, protective materials, insurance cover and a structured process from quote to completion. We plan your move, survey access, secure items correctly and take responsibility for the overall outcome. This reduces the risk of damage, delays and unexpected costs.
How far in advance should I book a removal van?
For most moves, we recommend booking at least two to three weeks in advance, especially if you are moving at the end of the month, at weekends or during busy periods. This gives us time to carry out any survey, plan access and allocate the right team. However, we understand that dates can change or be confirmed late. If your move is sooner, contact us as early as possible and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Our Step-by-Step Removals Process
1. Enquiry & Quote
You contact us with your moving details: addresses, dates, property type and an outline of what needs moving. We ask a few practical questions and provide a clear, no-obligation quotation based on the size of the move, access and distance.
2. Survey (Virtual or Onsite)
For anything more than a very small job, we complete a brief survey. This can be done by video call, photos, inventory list or an onsite visit. The survey lets us confirm the volume of items, access issues (lifts, stairs, parking) and any special requirements like dismantling, piano moving or extra packing.
3. Packing & Preparation
Before moving day, you can either pack yourself or book our professional packing service. If we are packing, we bring strong boxes, tape, bubble wrap and wrapping paper. Fragile items are individually protected and clearly labelled. Furniture that needs dismantling is taken apart carefully and all fixings are kept together.
4. Loading & Transport
On the day, our trained, professional team arrives on time, walks the property with you, and plans the loading order. We protect floors and banisters as required, use covers for sofas and mattresses, and stack the vehicle to avoid movement in transit. Your goods are then transported directly to your new address in our well-maintained vehicles.
5. Unloading & Placement
At your new property we unload, place furniture in the rooms you specify, and position boxes where they are easiest for you to unpack. Items we dismantled are reassembled where agreed. We do a final walk-through with you to make sure nothing has been missed before we leave.
Transparent Pricing Explained
We operate on clear, upfront pricing so you know exactly what you are paying for. Quotes are based on:
- Volume of goods and size of vehicle(s) required
- Number of movers needed
- Distance between addresses
- Access conditions (stairs, lifts, long carries, parking restrictions)
- Optional services such as packing, materials and furniture assembly
Your quotation sets out what is included, any potential extra charges (for example, waiting time due to delayed key release) and the payment terms. We do not add hidden extras on the day; if circumstances change, we discuss options with you first.
Why Choose Professional Removals Over DIY
Hiring a professional removals team is about more than convenience. Compared with DIY or an informal man-and-van, you benefit from:
- Proper lifting techniques to reduce the risk of injury to you and damage to your belongings
- Specialist equipment such as trolleys, straps and furniture covers
- Reliable scheduling – we turn up when booked and stay until the job is done
- Goods in transit insurance and public liability cover for peace of mind
- Experienced route planning and loading so everything fits safely in one go wherever possible
Trying to move everything yourself or relying on a casual, uninsured service often ends up costing more in breakages, delays and stress.
Insurance and Professional Standards
We take our responsibilities seriously. Our service includes:
- Goods in transit insurance – protecting your belongings while they are in our vehicles
- Public liability insurance – covering accidental damage to third-party property where applicable
- Trained moving teams – staff are experienced, briefed on each job and follow safe working practices
We handle your possessions as if they were our own, recording any pre-existing damage where appropriate and reporting promptly if anything unexpected occurs. Documentation can be provided on request.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
Our approach is based on careful handling and sensible, sustainable practices:
- Use of protective blankets, mattress covers and shrink-wrap where needed
- Thoughtful planning to avoid unnecessary trips and reduce emissions
- Re-use of strong cartons and materials wherever it is safe and hygienic to do so
- Responsible disposal or recycling of unwanted furniture and packaging by arrangement
We aim to complete every move efficiently while minimising waste and protecting both your belongings and the properties we work in.
Real-World Removal Scenarios

Families upgrading, downsizing or relocating benefit from a complete service including packing, dismantling and reassembly. We are used to tight completion days and work with you to align with key collection and handover times.
Office and Business Relocations
For offices, clinics, studios and shops, we plan moves to suit your trading hours. Desks, chairs, filing cabinets, stock and IT equipment are labelled, moved and reinstalled so your team can get back to work quickly.
Urgent and Short-Notice Moves
Sometimes moves have to happen quickly due to changes in tenancy, personal circumstances or short completions. Where our schedule allows, we offer same-day or next-day removals in Blackheath, with the same care and standards as planned moves.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do removal services in Blackheath cost?
Costs depend mainly on the volume of items, access at each property, distance travelled and any extra services you choose, such as packing or furniture assembly. Smaller flat moves might be charged on an hourly rate, while larger house or office removals are usually priced as a fixed quote. To give you an accurate figure, we ask a few questions and may carry out a short survey. All quotes are transparent, with labour, vehicle, fuel and basic protection included so you know exactly what you are paying for.
Can you handle same-day or urgent removals?
We can often accommodate same-day or short-notice removals in Blackheath, depending on our existing bookings and the size of your move. Smaller jobs, such as student moves or part loads, are usually easier to fit in at short notice. For larger house or office moves, we will do our best to rearrange schedules where possible. The sooner you contact us, the more likely we can help. Urgent moves are carried out with the same level of care, insurance cover and planning as standard bookings.
What insurance cover do you provide?
Our service includes goods in transit insurance, which covers your belongings while they are being transported in our vehicles, and public liability insurance for accidental damage to third-party property where applicable. This is designed to give you practical protection and peace of mind. While we take great care to avoid any issues, insurance is there for unlikely events such as accidents or vehicle incidents. We are happy to explain the scope and any limits of cover before you book, and documentation can be provided on request.
What is included in your removals service?
Our standard removals service includes a suitable vehicle, a trained removals team, loading, transport and unloading at your new address. We protect furniture with blankets and covers, and place items in the rooms you specify. Optional extras include full or partial packing, supply of packing materials, dismantling and reassembly of furniture, and disposal of unwanted items by prior agreement. Your quote will clearly list what is included so you can decide whether you want a basic load-and-go service or a more comprehensive, hands-off move.
How is your removals service different from a basic man-and-van?
While a simple man-and-van can be suitable for very small, low-risk jobs, our removals service is structured for reliability and protection. We provide insured, professional teams, proper planning, and the right size vehicles and equipment for your move. We survey your job in advance, confirm timings, and give written quotes rather than vague estimates. Our staff are trained in safe lifting and loading, and we use protective materials to safeguard your belongings and property. This reduces the risk of damage, delays and unexpected costs on the day.
How far in advance should I book my move?
For the best choice of dates, especially at busy times like month-end and weekends, it is sensible to book at least two to three weeks in advance. However, we understand that completions and tenancy dates can change, so we try to be as flexible as possible. If your dates are not fixed, we can pencil you in and confirm closer to the time. For urgent or last-minute moves, contact us as soon as you know your plans and we will check availability and offer the closest suitable slot.

Professional Storage Services in Blackheath
Our storage service is designed for people who need a safe, cost‑effective place to keep their items, whether for a few days or many months. We regularly serve clients in Blackheath Village, Westcombe Park, Lewisham, Greenwich and the wider SE3 area. Whether you’re in a top‑floor flat with a tight staircase or a large family home on a busy road, we plan the job around your location so everything runs efficiently.

What Can We Store?

- Household furniture – sofas, beds, wardrobes, tables and chairs
- Boxes of personal belongings, books, clothes and kitchenware
- White goods and appliances (fridges, freezers, washing machines – clean and defrosted)
- Office furniture – desks, chairs, filing cabinets, shelving
- IT equipment, printers and peripherals (securely packed)
- Sports equipment, bikes and hobby items
- Exhibition stands, marketing materials and display equipment
Items We Cannot Store
For safety, legal and insurance reasons, we cannot store:
- Perishable or open food and drink
- Flammable, explosive or hazardous substances (including paint thinners, gas bottles, fuel)
- Illegal goods or anything obtained unlawfully
- Live animals or plants
- Cash, high‑value jewellery or irreplaceable documents (such as passports and deeds – these are best kept with you or in a safe deposit facility)
If you’re unsure about a particular item, ask us in advance and we’ll advise.
How Our Storage Process Works
1. Enquiry & Quote
Contact us by phone or online with a brief description of what you need to store, where from, and for how long. We’ll ask a few questions about access, volume and any special requirements. Based on this, we provide a clear, no‑obligation quote covering collection, storage, and eventual redelivery.
2. Survey – Virtual or Onsite
For larger loads or business storage, we may carry out a short virtual video survey or an onsite visit in Blackheath. This lets us accurately assess the volume (in cubic feet or metres), check access, and plan the right number of movers and vehicle size. It helps avoid surprises on the day and ensures the quote is accurate.
3. Packing & Preparation
You can pack your own boxes, or use our packing service for added convenience. Where requested, we bring boxes, tape and packing paper and carefully prepare your belongings for storage. Furniture is wrapped in transit blankets or protective covers, and fragile items are appropriately padded. We label items clearly to make redelivery and placement straightforward.
4. Loading & Transport
On collection day, our trained moving teams arrive on time with the right equipment. We load your items safely, securing everything in our vehicles to prevent movement during transit. Your goods are then taken directly to our partner storage facility or container yard, where we unload into your allocated space.
5. Unloading, Storage & Redelivery
At the facility, we stack items carefully to maximise space while protecting delicate pieces. When you’re ready to have your items back, we arrange a convenient delivery date, bring everything out of storage, and place items in the rooms you choose. If needed, we can also assist with reassembly of furniture that we dismantled for storage.
Transparent Storage Pricing
We believe in clear, straightforward pricing. Storage costs are typically made up of:
- Collection and transport fee – based on time, distance and team size
- Weekly or monthly storage charge – based on volume of goods and storage type
- Redelivery fee – when you’re ready for your items back
There are no hidden extras. Before you commit, we set out all charges in writing so you can make an informed decision. We offer different options to suit short‑term and long‑term storage, and can advise on how to pack and consolidate to keep costs down.
Why Use Professional Storage Instead of DIY?
Hiring a professional removals and storage company offers several advantages over doing it yourself or using a casual man‑and‑van:
- Expert handling: We move heavy and awkward items daily, reducing the risk of injury or damage.
- Proper protection: We use blankets, covers and straps, and know how to stack items safely for long‑term storage.
- Fully insured: Your goods are covered under our goods in transit insurance and public liability cover, subject to terms.
- Time saving: We handle the hard work in fewer trips with purpose‑built vehicles.
- Accountability: As an established local company, we stand by our work and provide clear paperwork and agreements.
Insurance and Professional Standards
We operate to high professional standards throughout every storage move. Our teams are trained in lifting techniques, packing methods and safe vehicle loading. We are fully insured, with:
- Goods in transit insurance – covering your belongings while they are being moved between your property and the storage facility
- Public liability cover – protecting you and your property in the unlikely event of accidental damage or injury during our work
We’re always happy to explain our cover limits and conditions, and can provide proof of insurance on request.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
We treat every item as if it were our own. Furniture is wrapped, mattresses are bagged where required, and appliances are secured upright. For fragile and high‑value items we can offer extra padding and bespoke packing solutions.
We’re also conscious of our environmental responsibilities. Wherever possible, we use reusable transit blankets, re‑use strong cartons, and recycle packing materials responsibly. We plan routes efficiently to minimise unnecessary mileage and fuel use, especially around Blackheath’s busy roads and conservation areas.
Real‑World Storage Use Cases
Moving House
Chains fall through, dates change and renovations overrun. Using storage gives you flexibility – move your belongings out on time, store them safely, and have them delivered once your new home is ready.
Office Relocation
Businesses often need temporary storage when changing premises, refreshing office layouts or waiting for fit‑out works to finish. We can store desks, chairs, filing and IT equipment, and deliver everything in an organised way to your new location.
Urgent and Short‑Notice Moves
Sometimes you need to vacate a property quickly – for example, end of tenancy, landlord sale or unexpected travel. We can often arrange short‑notice collection into storage, giving you breathing space to sort out your next step.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does storage in Blackheath cost?
Storage costs depend on three main factors: how much you store, how long for, and the level of service you need. We usually price based on the volume of your goods, measured in cubic feet or metres, plus collection and redelivery charges. Short‑term storage is often charged weekly, while long‑term arrangements may be monthly. To keep costs down, we can advise on efficient packing and consolidation. We always provide a clear, itemised quote before you commit, so you know exactly what you’ll be paying.
Can you offer same‑day or urgent storage?
Where our schedule allows, we can often arrange same‑day or next‑day collection into storage in Blackheath and surrounding areas. Urgent moves are prioritised based on vehicle and team availability, so the more information you can give us upfront, the better we can help. If we can’t do same‑day, we’ll offer the earliest possible slot and suggest practical steps you can take in the meantime. It’s always worth calling to check, as late‑notice cancellations can free up capacity.
Are my belongings insured while in storage?
Your belongings are protected under our goods in transit insurance while we are transporting them between your property and the storage facility. The storage facility itself will usually have its own insurance arrangements, and we can explain how that works and what’s covered. For particularly high‑value items, we recommend you also speak to your home or business insurer, as they may offer additional cover. We’re happy to provide full details of our public liability cover and answer any questions about insurance limits and exclusions.
What’s included in your storage service?
Our standard storage service includes collection from your property, careful loading, transport to the storage facility, and unloading into your allocated space. We provide protective blankets and basic wrapping for furniture as part of our service. Optional extras include a full or partial packing service, supply of packing materials, detailed inventories and furniture dismantling and reassembly. When you’re ready, we also return your items from storage and place them in the rooms you choose. Everything is explained clearly in your quotation and booking confirmation.
How is this different from a basic man‑and‑van?
While a casual man‑and‑van might simply move your items from A to B, we offer a structured, accountable service. Our trained staff use professional equipment, follow a clear process, and are fully insured. We plan the job properly, protect your belongings for long‑term storage, and keep records so nothing is misplaced. If something goes wrong with an informal service, you may have little recourse. With us, you’re dealing with an established local company that takes responsibility and works to recognised standards.
How far in advance should I book storage?
For the best choice of dates and times, it’s sensible to book at least one to two weeks in advance, especially during busy periods such as the end of the month or summer. That said, we understand that plans can change quickly, and we do our best to accommodate last‑minute requests. If you have a fixed deadline to be out of a property, contact us as soon as possible so we can reserve space and schedule a team. Earlier booking also gives you time to pack methodically and label boxes clearly.
Packing and Boxes
Packing and Boxes Blackheath – Man and Van Blackheath
At Man and Van Blackheath, our dedicated Packing and Boxes service is designed to take the stress out of moving. Whether you are moving locally within Blackheath or preparing items for storage or long-distance transport, we provide robust packing materials and careful, methodical packing carried out by a trained, professional, and fully insured team.
Professional Packing Services in Blackheath
Our packing service covers everything from a few delicate items through to a full home or office pack. We supply high‑quality removal boxes, wrapping and protection materials, and we pack your belongings so they are safe in transit and easy to unpack at the other end.
Because we work in Blackheath every day, we understand typical local property layouts – from period terraces and mansion flats to modern apartments – and plan your packing to suit access, parking, and building rules. That local knowledge helps us pack in the right order and label clearly, so move day runs smoothly.
Who Our Packing and Boxes Service Is For
Homeowners
If you are selling or buying in Blackheath, we can provide a full or partial packing service. We carefully pack kitchens, bedrooms, lofts, garages, and valuable items, ensuring your chain is not held up by last‑minute packing.
Renters
For tenants moving between rentals, we offer cost‑effective packing options. We can focus on fragile items and awkward pieces while you handle clothes and everyday items, or we can take care of everything for a fast, tidy exit that helps you leave the property in good order.
Landlords
Landlords in Blackheath often need contents packed up between tenancies, for refurbishment, or for storage. We can pack household contents, label them clearly, and prepare them for transport to another property or a storage unit.
Businesses
Our commercial packing service is ideal for offices, shops, and small businesses. We pack files, IT equipment, stock, and office furniture using business‑grade crates and cartons, keeping items organised and minimising downtime when you reopen at your new premises.
Students
Students moving between halls, house shares, or going home for the holidays can use our smaller‑scale packing and boxes service. We provide the right size boxes for books, clothes, and personal items and can pack and label everything for straightforward moves or storage.
What Our Packing and Boxes Service Includes
Items We Commonly Pack
- Household contents – kitchenware, ornaments, books, clothes, toys, and general belongings
- Fragile items – glassware, crockery, mirrors, pictures, and artwork
- Electronics – TVs, computers, screens, printers, and small appliances
- Furniture protection – wrapping for tables, chairs, wardrobes, and sofas
- Office contents – files, stationery, IT equipment, and small office machinery
- Garage and shed items – tools, boxed equipment, and seasonal items (where safe and clean)
Items We Cannot Pack
For safety and insurance reasons, there are some items we are unable to pack:
- Hazardous materials – fuel, paint thinners, gas cylinders, chemicals, and explosives
- Perishable food – chilled or frozen items, or food likely to spoil during the move
- Illegal or prohibited items – anything not permitted by law or by our insurer
- High‑value personal documents and jewellery – we recommend you keep passports, cash, and important papers with you
- Animals and live plants that may be damaged in sealed boxes
If you are unsure whether something can be packed, we will advise during your survey so there are no surprises on move day.
Step‑by‑Step Packing and Moving Process
1. Enquiry & Quote
You contact us with your move details – property size, dates, and what you need packed. We discuss your requirements and recommend either a full packing service, partial packing service, or boxes and materials only. Based on this, we provide a clear, written quotation with no hidden extras.
2. Survey – Virtual or Onsite
For anything more than a small flat or simple move, we arrange a survey. This can be done via video call or in person in Blackheath. We assess the volume of goods, special care items, access, and parking, and we confirm how many boxes and packing materials will be required.
3. Packing & Preparation
On the agreed packing day (often the day before your move, or earlier for larger properties), our trained team arrives with all materials. We pack room by room, using double‑walled cartons, bubble wrap, paper, and furniture blankets. We label boxes clearly by room and contents so you can find essentials quickly at your new property.
4. Loading & Transport
If you are also using our removals service, we then load everything systematically onto our vehicles, ensuring fragile boxes and valuable items are loaded and secured appropriately. Your belongings are covered by our goods in transit insurance while on the move.
5. Unloading & Placement
At your new home or premises, we place boxes into the right rooms as labelled. We can also offer an unpacking service on request, where we unpack items onto surfaces and take away used packing materials, leaving you with less to clear up.
Transparent Pricing for Packing and Boxes
We aim to keep pricing simple and clear. Costs are typically based on:
- The size of the property or volume of goods
- Whether you want full or partial packing
- The number and type of boxes and materials required
- Any special handling for fragile, bulky, or high‑value items
We can quote for:
- Full packing – we pack all agreed contents and supply all materials
- Partial packing – we pack specified areas (e.g. kitchen and fragile items)
- Boxes and materials only – we supply boxes, tape, and packing paper for you to pack yourself
Your written quote will set out what is included so you can compare it fairly with doing it yourself or with other providers. There are no surprise add‑ons on the day, provided the agreed scope does not change.
Why Use a Professional Packing Service Instead of DIY?
Doing your own packing can seem cheaper, but it often leads to hidden costs and stress. As professionals, we:
- Use the right grade of boxes and protection to reduce breakages
- Pack faster and more systematically, saving you days of work
- Label clearly so unloading and settling in is easier
- Follow best practice for weight distribution to avoid injuries and damage
- Help maintain your buyer’s or landlord’s confidence by keeping the property tidy leading up to move day
Compared with casual man‑and‑van services, our packing is carried out by experienced staff who handle moves every day and follow professional standards, not just “get it in the van and go”.
Insurance and Professional Standards
When you choose Man and Van Blackheath, your items are protected by our goods in transit insurance while they are being moved, and we hold public liability cover for work in your home or business premises. Our team members are trained in correct lifting techniques, safe packing of fragile goods, and vehicle loading.
We keep records of materials used, box counts, and any special‑care items, so there is a clear trail for both you and our insurer. We take care to explain what is and is not covered during the quotation process, so expectations are realistic and transparent.
Care, Protection, and Sustainability
We treat your belongings as if they were our own. That means:
- Using furniture blankets, mattress covers, and protective wrapping
- Protecting floors and banisters where required
- Separating particularly delicate or sentimental items for extra care
Sustainability matters to us too. Wherever possible, we use recyclable cardboard boxes and paper rather than excessive plastics. We encourage box re‑use where condition allows, and we can remove and recycle used cartons and packing materials after your move if requested.
Real‑World Use Cases in Blackheath
Moving House
Families and couples moving between Blackheath and surrounding areas often ask us to handle a full pack, especially when juggling work and childcare. We can pack over one or two days, then carry out the move immediately afterwards.
Office Relocations
Local businesses rely on us to pack files, stock, and IT so they can keep trading right up to the move date. We label crates and boxes by department and priority, so your team can get back up and running quickly.
Urgent or Short‑Notice Moves
Life does not always give much notice. If you have to move quickly, we can often provide rapid packing and boxes support, subject to availability. We focus on essential areas first – kitchens, wardrobes, and valuables – ensuring your belongings are safe even when time is tight.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does your packing and boxes service cost?
Costs depend on how much you have to pack, the type of items involved, and whether you need a full or partial service. For a small flat, we may only need a few hours and a modest number of boxes, while larger family homes or offices require more time and materials. After a brief discussion or survey, we provide a clear, itemised quotation covering labour and all packing materials. This way, you can see exactly what you are paying for and decide what level of service suits your budget.
Can you offer same‑day or urgent packing in Blackheath?
We can sometimes provide same‑day or next‑day packing in Blackheath, depending on our schedule and the size of the job. Smaller properties or partial packing (such as just the kitchen and fragile items) are usually easier to fit in at short notice. For larger homes or offices, we may need at least a day or two’s notice so we can allocate a suitably sized team and enough materials. If your move is urgent, contact us as soon as possible and we will confirm what is realistically achievable.
Are my belongings insured while being packed and moved?
Yes. While your goods are in our vehicles and in transit, they are covered by our goods in transit insurance, subject to policy terms and conditions. We also hold public liability cover for work carried out in your home or workplace. During your quotation, we explain the key points, such as any single‑item limits and exclusions (for example, certain high‑value jewellery or cash). We always recommend that particularly valuable or irreplaceable items are discussed in advance so we can advise on the best way to handle them.
What exactly is included in your packing and boxes service?
Our service can be tailored, but typically includes supply of quality removal boxes, tape, packing paper, bubble wrap, and furniture protection, along with trained packers to pack agreed areas of your property. We label boxes by room and general contents to help with unloading and unpacking. If you are also using us for removals, we coordinate packing and move days so everything flows together. Optional extras include unpacking at your new address and removal of used packing materials once you have settled in.
How is this different from a basic man‑and‑van service?
A basic man‑and‑van service usually expects you to have everything packed and ready to load, often without formal training or insurance at the same level as a professional removals company. Our approach is different: we provide trained staff, structured packing methods, appropriate materials, and documented processes. We plan the job in advance, protect floors and furniture, and ensure your goods are insured in transit. This reduces the risk of damage, delays, and disputes, and generally makes the whole move calmer and more predictable.
How far in advance should I book packing and boxes?
Ideally, you should book as soon as you have a likely move date, especially during busy periods such as the end of the month or school holidays. For most homes in Blackheath, 2–4 weeks’ notice gives us time to survey, plan, and reserve the right team. However, we regularly accommodate shorter‑notice moves where our diary allows. Even if your dates are not fully confirmed, it is worth talking to us early so we can pencil you in and advise on the planning and preparation stages.

Items We Cannot Move or May Restrict
For safety, legal or insurance reasons, some items are excluded or require special arrangements:
- Hazardous materials, chemicals or flammable substances
- Gas cylinders and fuelled equipment
- Illegal or stolen goods
- Large industrial machinery not designed for standard office environments
- Cash, high-value jewellery or sensitive confidential documents (unless pre-agreed)
- Live animals or plants requiring specialist care
If you’re unsure about a particular item, we’ll advise during the survey so everything is clear before move day.
Our Step-by-Step Office Removals Process
1. Enquiry & Quote
It starts with a conversation. You tell us what you’re moving, from where to where, your preferred dates and any particular constraints such as access, security or out-of-hours working. We then provide a clear, no-obligation quotation outlining what’s included, likely timings and any optional extras like packing or dismantling services.
2. Survey – Virtual or Onsite
For most office moves we recommend a survey. This can be carried out virtually via video call or in person at your current premises. We assess access, parking, lifts or stairs, quantity of furniture, IT equipment, filing and any special handling requirements. This allows us to allocate the right size vehicle, the right number of trained movers, and the right materials.
3. Packing & Preparation
We offer flexible options:
- Full packing service – we supply boxes, crates and packing materials, label everything clearly and carefully pack office contents.
- Part packing – we handle fragile IT, screens and sensitive items; your team packs personal belongings and non-fragile contents.
- Self packing – we can supply materials and guidance for your staff to pack ahead of moving day.
We can also dismantle and reassemble desks and other modular furniture as required.
4. Loading & Transport
On moving day our professional team arrives at the agreed time, protects floors and high-traffic areas, and loads systematically. All items are wrapped or covered as needed, with goods in transit insurance in place while your belongings are on the road. Vehicles are equipped with straps, blankets and protective equipment to keep everything secure.
5. Unloading & Placement
At your new offices we unload and place furniture and equipment into the rooms and positions agreed in advance. We can follow a floor plan or work directly with your move coordinator. Desks and furniture can be reassembled, and we’ll position crates and boxes where your teams need them so they can begin work again quickly.
Transparent Office Removals Pricing
We aim for clarity and fairness in our pricing. Costs are based on:
- Volume and complexity of items to be moved
- Distance between locations
- Access conditions at both ends
- Number of movers and vehicles required
- Optional services such as packing, materials and furniture dismantling
Once we’ve carried out a survey, we provide a transparent written quote with no hidden extras. Any potential additional charges (for example, waiting time beyond normal allowances, parking fees, or last-minute changes) are explained clearly before you book.
Why Choose Professional Office Removals Over DIY
Attempting a DIY office move or using an informal man-with-a-van service can expose your business to unnecessary risk and disruption. With Man and Van Blackheath you benefit from:
- Trained movers experienced in handling IT, furniture and fragile items
- Efficient planning that reduces downtime for your staff
- Appropriate vehicles and equipment for safe transport
- Fully insured services, protecting your business against the unexpected
- Professional coordination, clear communication and agreed timelines
The real saving is in reduced disruption, fewer breakages and a smoother transition for your team.
Insurance & Professional Standards
Your business assets deserve proper protection. Our services include:
- Goods in transit insurance – covering your items while they are being transported.
- Public liability cover – protecting you, your staff and your premises while we work on-site.
- Trained moving teams – all staff are briefed on safe handling, manual handling techniques and building protection.
We work to professional standards at every stage, from initial survey and planning to post-move checks, so you can be confident your move is in safe hands.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
We treat your office contents as if they were our own. To minimise risk and environmental impact we:
- Use padded blankets, protective covers and floor protection where required
- Secure IT equipment and fragile items separately
- Offer reusable crates as an alternative to disposable cardboard where suitable
- Consolidate journeys and plan efficient routes to reduce unnecessary mileage
- Re-use or recycle packing materials wherever possible
Our aim is a safe, well-managed move that also keeps waste and disruption to a minimum.
Real-World Office Removal Use Cases

Business and Office Relocations
From small agencies and retailers to accountants, consultants and tech firms, we regularly relocate offices across Blackheath and beyond. We can work outside normal hours or at weekends if needed, to limit downtime and keep your business running smoothly.
Urgent and Short-Notice Moves
Sometimes a move can’t wait – an unexpected lease issue, flood, or sudden opportunity to relocate. Subject to availability, we can provide same-day or short-notice office removals, prioritising essential IT and workstations first so your teams can keep operating.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do office removals in Blackheath cost?
Costs vary depending on the size of your office, the volume of furniture and equipment, access at both ends, and the distance travelled. Smaller local moves may be completed within a few hours, while larger multi-floor relocations require more time and resources. After a survey, we provide a clear, itemised quotation so you know exactly what you’re paying for. There are no hidden extras, and we’ll explain any potential additional charges such as parking fees or out-of-hours working before you confirm your booking.
Can you handle same-day or urgent office removals?
Yes, subject to availability we can often assist with same-day or urgent office moves in and around Blackheath. The more information you can provide about what needs moving, access and timing, the better we can plan at short notice. While urgent moves may be slightly more restricted in terms of optional services such as full packing, we still work to the same professional standards. Contact us as early as possible in the day so we can confirm vehicle and crew availability.
Are my office items insured during the move?
Yes. We provide goods in transit insurance to cover your belongings whilst they are being transported, and public liability cover while we are working at your premises. These policies are designed to give you peace of mind in the unlikely event of damage or an incident. We’ll happily outline the key terms and limits before you book. For particularly high-value or specialist equipment, we may recommend you check any additional cover with your own insurer as well.
What’s included in your office removals service?
Our standard office removals service includes loading, transport and unloading of your agreed items between addresses, plus basic protection such as blankets and covers. We can also include dismantling and reassembly of desks and standard office furniture, and placement of items in designated rooms or positions. Optional extras such as full or part packing, supply of crates and boxes, out-of-hours working and clearance of unwanted items can be added as needed and will be clearly shown on your quotation.
What’s the difference between your service and a basic man-and-van?
While a casual man-and-van might suit very small, low-risk moves, our service is structured for business continuity. We provide trained teams, appropriate vehicles, proper protective equipment and fully insured operations. We also carry out surveys, plan access, and coordinate with your building or facilities teams. The result is a more controlled, predictable move with greatly reduced risk of damage, delays or disruption to your staff, which is particularly important for office and commercial relocations.
How far in advance should I book an office removal?
For most office moves, we recommend booking at least two to four weeks in advance, especially if you’re targeting a specific date or require weekend or evening work. This gives time for a survey, planning, packing and liaison with building management. However, we understand that circumstances change, and we’ll always do our best to accommodate shorter notice where our schedule allows. The earlier you contact us, the more flexibility we’ll have in tailoring the move to your preferred timings.

- Single-item moves – sofas, wardrobes, white goods, bulky purchases
- Flat and small home moves – studios, one- and two-bed properties
- Student moves – term-time relocations and end-of-tenancy clearances
- Small office relocations – desks, IT equipment, archive boxes
- Furniture collection and delivery – shops, auctions, private sellers
- Part loads – when you do not need a full-size removals truck
Every job is planned so that your belongings are protected, loaded safely, and delivered on time. We can provide one, two or more movers depending on access, item weight and your preference.
Local Blackheath Expertise
Based in Blackheath, we know the area’s streets, parking restrictions and property layouts well. From Georgian terraces around the heath to modern apartments near the station, we understand tight staircases, limited access, and residents’ parking schemes that can catch people out.
We regularly work across Blackheath, Greenwich, Lewisham and surrounding SE postcodes, so we can realistically advise on timings, loading points and any permits required. This local knowledge keeps your move efficient and reduces stress on the day.
Who Our Man with a Van Blackheath Service Is For
Homeowners
Ideal for downsizing, moving a few key items between homes, or transporting new furniture. If you do not need a full removals truck, our man with a van offers a cost-effective, professional alternative.
Renters
Perfect for one- and two-bed flats where you have a manageable amount of furniture and boxes. We can handle dismantling and reassembly of beds and wardrobes on request, and we are used to working around lift access and tight communal hallways.
Landlords
We support landlords with quick turnarounds between tenancies: clearing unwanted items, moving furniture in or out, or relocating appliances between properties. We work tidily and respect neighbours and building rules.
Businesses
For small office moves, equipment transfers, or regular deliveries, our man with a van option is often more practical than a large lorry. We can work out of hours to minimise disruption and handle fragile IT equipment with care.
Students
Students moving to or from Blackheath, Greenwich or central London use us for hassle-free moves between halls, shared houses and home. We understand budget constraints and can often combine loads where appropriate.
What We Can and Cannot Move
Items typically included
- Domestic furniture – beds, sofas, tables, wardrobes, chests of drawers
- White goods – fridges, freezers, washing machines, tumble dryers
- Personal belongings – boxes, suitcases, bags, books, clothing
- Electronics – TVs, computers, monitors, audio equipment
- Office items – desks, chairs, filing cabinets, archive boxes
- Flat-packed and boxed items – from IKEA and other retailers
Items excluded or needing prior discussion
- Hazardous materials (fuel, gas bottles, paint thinners, chemicals)
- Illegal items or anything prohibited by law
- Large commercial machinery or plant above van capacity
- Extremely high-value items (fine art, antiques, jewellery) without prior agreement
- Animals and live plants on longer-distance journeys
If you are unsure whether an item is suitable, ask during your enquiry. We can often suggest a safe way to transport it or advise an alternative solution.
Our Step-by-Step Man with a Van Process
1. Enquiry & Quote
You contact us with your addresses, dates, list of items and any access details. We ask a few practical questions so we understand the job properly. Based on this, we provide a clear, no-obligation quote with either an hourly rate or fixed price, depending on your preference and the nature of the move.
2. Survey – Virtual or Onsite
For smaller moves, a virtual survey (photos or video call) is usually enough. For larger or more complex jobs, we may visit in person. This helps us assess access, parking, stairs and item sizes so there are no surprises on the day and we send the right size van and number of movers.
3. Packing & Preparation
You can pack your own boxes, or we can provide professional packing services and materials. We advise on labelling, dismantling, and protecting fragile items. On the day, we bring blankets, straps and trolleys so furniture is properly protected and moved efficiently.
4. Loading & Transport
Our team arrives on time, walks through the plan with you, and then loads systematically. Furniture is wrapped or covered as needed; boxes are stacked securely. The van is always loaded with weight and balance in mind. We then travel directly to your destination, using the most suitable route for traffic and road conditions.
5. Unloading & Placement
On arrival, we unload into the rooms you specify rather than leaving everything in the hallway. We can reassemble basic furniture if agreed in advance and will not leave until you are satisfied that everything is where it should be and in the condition it left.
Transparent Pricing – How Our Man with a Van Costs Work
We believe pricing should be straightforward and explained in plain language. For our Blackheath man with a van service, we typically offer:
- Hourly rates for small, local jobs with flexible scope
- Fixed prices for clearly defined moves, based on inventory and distance
Rates consider the number of movers, size of van, travel time, and any special requirements (such as dismantling, awkward access, or out-of-hours work). All charges are agreed in writing before the job so you know exactly what to expect. There are no hidden call-out fees or surprise extras on the day.
Why Choose a Professional Man with a Van Over DIY
Hiring a casual van and doing it yourself can appear cheaper, but many people underestimate the physical effort, time and risk involved. With our professional man with a van service you benefit from:
- Trained movers who know how to lift correctly and protect items
- Proper equipment – trolleys, straps, blankets, and tools for dismantling
- Fully insured cover for your belongings and property
- Reduced risk of damage to walls, doors and staircases
- Reliable timings and a team that turns up when promised
In many cases, once you factor in van hire, fuel, parking, and lost time, a professional man with a van is comparable in cost but far safer and less stressful.
Insurance & Professional Standards
As an established removals firm, we operate under clear standards and proper insurance, giving you peace of mind that a casual one-man band cannot match.
- Goods in transit insurance – covers your belongings while they are in our care and on the road, subject to terms and declared values.
- Public liability cover – protects you and your property in the unlikely event of accidental damage while we are working on-site.
- Trained moving teams – our staff are experienced, briefed on each job, and follow safe handling procedures.
We are transparent about what is covered and happy to explain any limits or exclusions so you can make informed decisions.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
We treat your belongings as if they were our own. Furniture is wrapped or covered, corners and doorways are watched carefully, and we take time to plan the safest way to move awkward items. When necessary, we remove doors from hinges or dismantle furniture rather than forcing it through tight spaces.
We also try to work in a more sustainable way by reusing durable packing materials where hygiene allows, planning routes efficiently to reduce unnecessary mileage, and maintaining our vehicles so they run as cleanly as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a man with a van in Blackheath cost?
Costs depend on several factors: the amount you are moving, how many movers you need, access at each property and the distance travelled. For smaller local jobs, we often work on an hourly rate with a minimum booking period. For clearer, well-defined moves we can offer a fixed price. The best way to get an accurate figure is to contact us with an item list and addresses; we will then provide a detailed, no-obligation quote so you know exactly what you are paying for.
Can you provide same-day or urgent man with a van services?
Yes, where our schedule allows we can often arrange same-day or next-day man with a van support in Blackheath and surrounding areas. Availability depends on existing bookings, size of van required and how flexible you are on timing. If you need an urgent move, call or email with as much detail as possible – addresses, items, and preferred time – and we will confirm quickly whether we can help and what the cost will be. We always avoid over-promising on what can realistically be done safely.
Are my belongings insured during the move?
Yes. Our man with a van service is backed by goods in transit insurance, which covers your belongings while they are in our vehicle, and public liability cover in case of accidental damage to property during the move. As with any policy, there are limits and exclusions, particularly for very high-value or fragile items, so we encourage you to tell us about anything special in advance. We can then confirm the level of cover in writing and suggest any extra precautions or arrangements if needed.
What is included in your man with a van service?
You get a suitable van, fuel, an experienced driver-mover (and extra movers if booked), plus standard moving equipment such as blankets, straps and trolleys. We load, transport and unload your items into the rooms you specify. If agreed in advance, we can also help with basic dismantling and reassembly of furniture. Packing materials and full packing services are available as optional extras. All inclusions are set out clearly in your quote, so you know exactly what is and is not covered before confirming your booking.
How is a professional removals service different from a casual man-and-van?
A casual man-and-van is often just a vehicle and a person, with limited or no insurance and little accountability. Our service is part of an established removals company, with trained staff, fully insured cover, proper equipment and planned procedures. We survey the job, confirm everything in writing, and turn up at the agreed time with the right resources. If something unexpected happens, we have systems and insurance in place to resolve it properly. In short, you get a safer, more reliable and more carefully managed move.
How far in advance should I book?
For weekend or month-end moves, we recommend booking at least one to two weeks in advance as these times fill up quickly. For midweek jobs or smaller tasks, we can sometimes accommodate you with only a few days’ notice. If your dates are not yet fixed, it still helps to contact us early so we can pencil you in and advise on availability. The earlier you book, the more choice you will have on time slots and pricing, especially during busy periods such as summer and end of tenancy peaks.
